Entries have started to roll in for the People of Motueka: Through Your Lens portrait photography competition, and organisers are encouraging people to continue to pick up their cell phones and just snap the shot.
The competition, organised by the Motueka branch of law firm Glasgow Harley, aims to showcase local faces and the stories behind them.
This is not a competition targeted at professionals, however. Client experience and communications coordinator Chantal Amador is encouraging people to not overthink it and just get snapping, or to search through their recent photos and submit them.
The competition features seven categories: family; local businesses and hospitality; agriculture; cultural communities; tangata whenua; community groups and volunteering; and active lifestyle.
Chantal has been out connecting with different sectors of the community and says she has found "great advisors and advocates for this project" along the way.
She hopes the range of entries will provide an authentic representation of the Motueka community.
An exhibition will be held at Te Noninga Kumu-Motueka District Library in late September, where visitors will be invited to vote for their favourite image in the People's Choice award.
The overall winner will receive $500, while other prizes are still being finalised.
More information and entry forms can be found at www.ghlegal.co.nz/peopleofmotueka. Entry closes on Sunday, 30 August.
