Pest Free Onetahua has secured $791,250 from the Department of Conservation (DOC) Community Fund to support habitat restoration work at Onetahua/Farewell Spit over the next three years.
The funding provides a significant boost for pest control and conservation efforts across Farewell Spit and surrounding areas, an internationally significant wetland that serves as a vital refuge for many threatened native species.
The investment will enable Pest Free Onetahua to continue its on-the-ground conservation work, guided by strong partnerships with Mana Whenua ki Mohua, HealthPost Nature Trust, and the Department of Conservation.
Pest Free Onetahua acknowledged the collective effort behind the project, extending thanks to its partners, supporters, volunteers, community members, and everyone who contributes their time, knowledge, energy, and support to protecting this unique environment.
