Twenty model railway layouts from across New Zealand will roll into Stoke this weekend as the biennial Nelson Model Railway Exhibition returns with hands-on displays, activities and expert advice.
Held at Warnes Stadium in Stoke on Saturday, 5 September and Sunday, 6 September, the exhibition will feature layouts from Wellington, Christchurch, Kaikōura, Ashburton, Timaru, Invercargill and Nelson.
Visitors can browse sales tables, explore displays and get advice from the train doctor and help desk.
Those keen to try their hand at running a railway can take control of trains on a hands-on layout.
A raffle will also give visitors the chance to win a model railway layout in time for Christmas.
The exhibition runs from 10am to 4.30pm each day.
Entry is $10 for adults, $2 for children and $20 for a family pass covering two adults and three children. An adult weekend pass costs $15.
Food, tea and coffee will be available throughout the weekend.
