Two men have been charged after a stand-off with armed police that led to a Nelson street being closed for hours.
Police said officers visited a house on Emano St about 2.45pm on Tuesday for an unrelated matter when a man threatened police, locked himself inside and refused to leave.
Cordons were established in the street by 3.30pm and about three hours later police arrested the man and a neighbour who entered the property during the stand-off.
A 41-year-old is due in the Nelson District Court on Wednesday on charges of threatening to kill, possessing cannabis and failing to comply with a computer search.
The second man, a 42-year-old, is due in court next week charged with obstructing police.
