More than 70 golfers headed onto the Greenacres course on Saturday to compete for the Wrightson Cup and possibly win themselves a brand-new pair of red band gumboots.
The cup, which was first played for in 1989, is sponsored by PGG Wrightson. Winners play as singles in a hidden pairs format, meaning at the end of the day, two players are randomly drawn from a hat to have their scores combined as a team.
The winning team each bag themselves a pair of gumboots thanks to PGG Wrightson.
The 18-hole competition stopped in 2011, but Greenacres member Chris O’Connor found the trophy in a box 10 years later and resurrected the competition. This year’s winners were Alistair McRitchie and Rose O’Connor, pictured.
