Isel Park’s paths were purple on Saturday morning with young and old united for those on a path that is far less straightforward than a walk in the park.
Alzheimer’s Nelson Tasman, in its 40th year, led its annual Memory Walk for World Alzheimer’s Month to make strides for dementia awareness in the community, honour those living with the condition, and their care partners and friends.
Arvida Waimea Plains resident Annette Denton and a van of 12 fellow residents took part “to spread the good word” about the Alzheimer’s Society.
“Society does so much throughout the community,” she says.
“Alzheimer’s touches so many hearts and families, and we have some people in the village who are experiencing that connection.”
Annette was also heartened to see young families and new faces walking in purple.
