Nelson Pine Industries is providing Hato Hone St John with additional operational space at its Richmond site on Lower Queen Street under a new long-term lease, helping meet growing demand for emergency ambulance services across Nelson Tasman.
The company has supported Hato Hone St John for many years, with the organisation leasing land for its Richmond ambulance station since 2007.
As the region continues to grow, demand for emergency ambulance services and additional operational space has increased. The new lease provides extra room at the existing Richmond site for ambulance deployment and storage.
“We’ve had a strong relationship with Hato Hone St John over many years, and we’re very pleased to be able to continue that support,” says Nelson Pine Industries chief executive Kai Kruse.
“Hato Hone St John plays an incredibly important role in our community. As a long-standing Richmond business and employer, we are committed to supporting the community we are a part of, and providing additional space at our site is a practical way we can help as demand for ambulance services continues to grow,” he says.
Hato Hone St John has also purchased land at the corner of Mānatu Way and Coman Drive in Richmond, where it plans to build a new ambulance station designed to support emergency ambulance and community health services into the future.
Hato Hone St John Tasman District operations manager, James McMeekin, says the organisation values its long-standing partnership with Nelson Pine Industries.
“We value our long-standing partnership with Nelson Pine Industries and their ongoing support through the existing Richmond station land lease. The additional space provided through our new long-term lease will help support our operations as the region continues to grow, and we are extremely grateful to Kai and the Nelson Pine Industries team for their continued support," he says.
“We also appreciate the generous support of Nelson Pine Industries and the Nelson community as we work towards a new ambulance station for Richmond,” he says.
Kai says the relationship reflects Nelson Pine Industries' strong connection to the local community.
“For us, this is about being a good neighbour and supporting the people and organisations that contribute so much to the Nelson Tasman region,” he says.
Recent years have seen funds raised through Hato Hone St John’s Light the Way annual appeal, along with generous gifts from local donors.
Fundraising for the new station will continue, with a construction start date yet to be confirmed.
